Spartan Invite set for Saturday

Posted

L-C warmed up for its annual Spartan Volleyball Invitational Saturday with a sweep at Waupaca Tuesday, 25-17, 25-16 and 25-18.

The Spartans finished second in the conference at 7-1, and are 18-15 overall.

“We’ve been working on some things in practice the last week, and it was good to see them show up in the match,” said L-C coach Jeff Frey.

Claire Schleis had 21 assists and six kills, Stella Schleis nine assists and two aces, Jenna Annoye 11 digs and two aces, Ali Jansen seven kills, and Aubrey Frey 14 kills, 10 digs and two aces.

WIAA volleyball tournament begins

Luxemburg-Casco got a three seed in the WIAA Div. 2 regional and has a first-round bye. They’ll likely host six-seed Seymour Thursday.

With a win, they’ll almost certainly face two-seed Oconto Falls next Saturday with a regional title on the line. The winner of that one would likely face top-seed Fox Valley Lutheran in a sectional opener Thursday, Oct. 29.
In Div. 3, 10th seeded Kewaunee is at seven-seed Peshtigo Tuesday, and in Div. 4, eight-seed Algoma hosts No. 9 Omro.
