Baldwin hosts town hall for Northeast Wisconsin constituents

NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – On April 10, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin hosted a virtual town hall for her Northeast Wisconsin constituents.

During the virtual town hall — moderated by New North President/CEO Barb LaMue — Baldwin provided an update on her most recent work in Washington, D.C.

“So it has been a very busy start to the year, and I mentioned that in part one of the reasons we’re having a virtual town hall today is because of how much time I’ve been in Washington, D.C. in the first part of this year, we have been in session a lot, in part because the Senate has the role of advise and consent with regard to a new president’s nominees. There’s a lot of them to process, and so we’ve been in session quite a bit,” she said.

“Today, I have had a tour where we’ve had hands off Medicaid roundtables in various parts of the state. I’ve had six so far. When I return this weekend, we will continue to do that into next week, also wanting to understand the impact of some of the administration’s policies on Wisconsinites, and so whether it’s the proposals with regard to Medicaid or how tariffs have impacted Wisconsinites and may in the future.”

Baldwin also discussed funding freezes and changes to the federal workforce.

“I sit on the Appropriations Committee, and I’m looking forward to getting to work on our fiscal year 2026 bills also… the workforce issues and the jobs issues for Wisconsin are still a high priority, and I have found Republican colleagues who are willing to work in a bipartisan manner on some of these issues,” she said.

“Also, it’s still a very central focus for me to help lower costs.

“We know that it has been a very, very challenging time for families to make ends meet, what with inflation and then the added costs that we’re seeing through the implementation of across.

“Where I can find partners on the other side of the political aisle to advance issues that allow us to lower costs for folks — be that health care costs or prescription drug costs or grocery costs — where I can find allies and build coalitions to focus on our Buy America rules and bringing jobs back to the United States that we’ve lost.”

The virtual town hall focused on the counties of Florence, Marinette, Oconto, Menominee, Outagamie, Brown, Kewaunee, Door, Winnebago, Calumet, Manitowoc and Fond du Lac.
