David Eugene Reich of Rhinelander passed away at home on April 8, 2026, aged 70. Dave was born May 29, 1955, the middle child of Eugene “Tud” and Carole (Wood) Reich. Dave graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1973 and worked at the Rhinelander Paper Mill for many years before retiring. His friends knew him as “Tooter” or “Tud.”

Dave loved the outdoors. His neighbors often saw him with his big walking stick on morning walks. He loved his trucks and Harley motorcycle. He was enthusiastic about firearms, as well as music – he played acoustic guitar and banjo. Dave was a Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan.

Dave was an independent person, but he also had many friends and was close with his siblings. Even though older brother John lived in Idaho, he and Dave talked on the phone every Monday morning. Younger brother Tom shared Dave's love of music. Dave introduced Tom to the guitar at a young age, and the two jammed together often until Tom's passing.

Dave made many friends at the Paper Mill over the years. He was also a familiar face at Twin Pines Bar & Grill. Dave visited every afternoon and was considered part of the family by owners Cheryl and Jerry Hirman. Dave's friends remember him fondly for his kindness.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law Sandi Lockhart; brothers Tom Reich and John Reich; and various aunts and uncles.

He is survived by nephew Alex Reich (Alexa Verbist); niece Carly Reich; nephew Joe (Jody) Lockhart; aunts Sarah (John) Kirsch and Janet Huebner; and many cousins. He is also survived by special friends Cheryl and Jerry Hirman, Sam Piasecki, Robert Priebe, Jim “Stubby” Reeves, and many more.

In keeping with Dave's wishes, no service will be held.
