KEWAUNEE COUNTY – With the Fourth of July approaching, there will be patriotic celebrations across the county honoring our nation. Some of these events are listed below.
An aerial and ground display to celebrate the birth of our nation will be held on July 3 at the Lakehaven Hall by the Kewaunee Area Chamber of Commerce. Band Stone Sober will perform from 5:30 p.m. until dusk. The Muskrat City Sportsman’s Club will be serving pulled pork, brats, burgers, hot dogs, walleye plate, fish tacos and fries from 4-10 p.m. The Bakery Bar will be serving desserts and The Red Barn will be serving ice cream. An outdoor tent will also serve cold drinks for all ages. All proceeds from food and drink sales will go toward scholarship funds and educational programs. There will also be kids activities and games from 4-10 p.m., sponsored by the Lakeshore Baptist Church. The fireworks show will begin at dusk.
The Kewaunee American Legion Post 29 will hold their monthly VFW meeting at the American Legion Hall, also on July 3, from 7-8:30 p.m.
The Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce hosts an art exhibition on the first Friday of each month, this month falling on the Fourth of July. Participants can often meet the artists and participate in hands-on activities. Yardstick Books, located at 317 Steele St., will offer collage materials and coloring sheets for children, both celebrating Independence Day and unity, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Art studio Clay on Steele, located at 221 Steele St., will host “Fireworks by the Raku kiln,” featuring vases with summer flowers in the gallery.
On Thursday, July 3, 7000apart will perform for Algoma’s free Concerts in the Park from 6-9 p.m. at Heritage Park.
The Luxemburg Area Chamber of Commerce’s own Music in the Park program, which began on June 5, will host a performance by the band Decades at Firemen’s Park, also on Thursday, July 3 at 6 p.m.
